Dad: can you believe the [university system] asked the legislature for $XX million MORE this year?
Me: probably to help make up for all the national research funding we’ve lost

A couple years ago I worked on 12 grants in my role as a task force director at the Library of Congress. This year, zero. We are going to lose a lot of our public memory. Which is at the crux of fascistic mobilization.

I'm grading my Games students' papers on some aspect of race, class, gender, ability, etc. in a video game of their choosing. The papers are fun to read! Lots of games I didn't know about.

I finished The Moonstone but I didn’t like it, sorry. I can’t deal with the wordiness, and the story didn’t affect me as much as The woman in white.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

The Democratic Party needs a reckoning, not another press release. Schumer needs to go, and so do every one of the centrists who voted to open the government while closing the door on the people who put them there.
We deserve a party that fights for us, not one that apologizes for doing so

I have a German Shepherd mutt, and she sheds periodically; if you have a GSD you know what I mean. It’s like they turn over their whole coat in 2 weeks. I got one of those dog vacuums where the brush is attached to a quiet vacuum and it’s amazing. She doesn’t mind the noise, either.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Chuck Schumer is definitely going to lose his job if the Dems cave on the first counter to their compromise. With nothing on health care.
