Today I get to make an exciting announcement! After years of work, San Francisco Public Library's alternative headings are now live. This list represents hundreds of hours of work and I'm proud of what we've done. Here is the list if your library would like to use it: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

If someone says that "personally" they support something, but materially they support the opposite with large sums of money? That personal belief means nothing to me.

If I had a dollar for every ex-mormon who got sent to or threatened with conversion therapy, I could pay a lot of bills with that.

Bay Area people, I have a tradition with a couple friends: every year we try out the winner of the "Mole to Die For" contest. This year's winner was Cocina Mamá Cholita on Mission and 30th. I promise you if you eat these enchiladas, you will feel deeply content with the world for a few hours.

Most people think I dress very weird and the menswear guy is probably not an exception. I am 100% ok with that. I dress for myself! Today's outfit includes purple leggings, a body hugging black dress, and a green and blue vest I handspun and knit.
I do not fear the Menswear Guy. what's he going to tell me about myself that I am not already acutely aware of. "you dress like you don't respect yourself" good eye ace
The fact the Menswear Guy is actively dunking on the Bsky user base now instead of just cross-posting the threads where he does that to Twitter users should terrify all of us.

I’m a trained social worker. I worked with cases of CSA and other horrifying traumas. I didn’t learn til 6 months before I burnt out how dangerous and cumulative vicarious and secondary trauma are.

You don’t want this in your head and you don’t want it to live in your body. It doesn’t leave.
And as several folks are saying in the comments: curiosity about the Epstein files is understandable, but just for yourself personally, think carefully about what you want in your head forever.

It will come to you later in upsetting ways that you may not expect.

I promise you- people think they want to know the lurid details- they don't. I spent 30 years reading accounts of CA/SA and that shit never leaves your head.
I'm interested in knowing who was on public payroll and didn't do their jobs. And I'm happy to wait for the truth so it sticks.

At my last workplace, they systematically cut tech services for years. When I left for a new job, I told my boss that after my last day, there would be no one left to load order records into our ILS. She asked if that would be a problem. I said "only if you like paying your bills."
Lolololol at every academic who has paid zero attention to their library or constantly-decreasing library funding suddenly being like LIBRARIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING EVERYTHING THEMSELVES AND OUTSOURCING NOTHING like we all have teams of programmers and software engineers.

And yes, a big part of this is that librarianship is traditionally a female profession. Don’t you fucking DARE tell me the lack of respect for my profession doesn’t at least partially come out of that, because I am from New Jersey, and I will cut a bitch.

I spent my whole career being told librarians are obsolete because of technology (and arguing vehemently that we are not!) so when people finally realize that maybe they should have listened? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here today to warn about another hearing aid scam company, AudioNova. If you or a loved one needs hearing aids, visit an audiologist through your medical provider, or if you have one, the audiologists at Costco who are great. The other business to watch out for is hear dot com. Do NOT use them.

I don't know if this is my pettiest, but I truly hate people who ride scooters on the sidewalk. They are the worst. Coming up behind me and being like DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME??? No, I did not, because I remain hard of hearing. Get off the sidewalk. Maybe crash a little, as a treat.
Let’s air those grievances. I want to hear your pettiest gripes on this the holiest of days.

I came in one morning, flipped on the lights. Entire room was full of white faceless mannequins, all facing the door. Friends, I *screamed.*

It turns out the exhibit staff needed them for the next exhibit, didn't know where to put them, so stashed in that work room. But I got zero heads up!
I think we need a mega thread of everyone's craziest archive stories.

Rumble had his 1 year check up this weekend, as well as his annual vaccines. He is 1) perfectly healthy and 2) enormous. The last time the vet saw him he was about 7lbs. He weighed in at 15lbs at this appointment and the vet was shocked when she walked in and saw him!

Friends, I want to believe that story about the knitted blankets for elephants as much as you do, but those women are working on 2 row knitting projects in front of a massive pile of crocheted blankets, and those elephants cast no shadows.

The photographer's website is a dead url.

If fat shaming worked there'd be no fat people after 4th grade.

"Fatshaming is good for fat people actually" is trying to be a shithead with a righteous backbone and it doesn't work.

There are no guilt-free passes on being an asshole for no good reason.
