people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

There is perpetual hand wringing and recrimination about leftist elitism towards right wingers. But I never hear anything about extreme and hateful elitism towards those the right deems beneath them. Look at what they're saying about snap recipients right now. They're seething with rage.
I know this reinforces a narrative about condescending leftists calling all conservatives bigots but I'm sorry, every form of data — anecdotes, polling and public statements by conservatives — indicate that these are the main drivers.

It's a doomed quest to keep looking for good underneath evil.

I’m not opposed to being critical of Tolkien. But the Anglo Saxon westerners in question here built Sauron a human sacrifice colosseum, enslaved those Muslim coded men, and invaded the land of the Gods at his urging.
There's A Lot Of Stuff Going On in LORD OF THE RINGS and unfortunately I genuinely think one of those things is a basically racist depiction of a conflict between genetically superior Anglo-Saxon-coded westerners and Muslim-coded fallen men worshipping a demonic god to their southeast.

An actual free society is one in which people are free to be rude, to be haters

And I'm just now connecting this with "an armed society is a polite society"
I think saying "rest in piss" about a dead person is quite rude but not a threat of violence and should not be a bannable offense

I don’t think fascism forms “magically,” I think it’s a social phenomenon that forms from people convincing other people to be fascists, rather than arising from some kind of underlying economic condition. I think the experience of the last few years has shown this to be a pretty good theory
i think you continue to try to put forward that fascism forms magically, and you hope your current audience differs from the previous audience who roundly mocked you for saying something so ridiculous

This is the platonic ideal of liberal policymaking: incontrovertibly correct, insane number of lives saved and overall QoL improvement, polls like dogshit and would be electoral suicide.
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

These socially elite writers don’t find Trump particularly threatening. They don’t like him. But their most immediate priorities are being allowed to concern troll about trans kids without being yelled at. They’re functionally conservative in that respect.
The exaggeration that drove critics to label minor infractions as a major cultural rot, or students protesting as akin to to Maoism, left then unable to respond to an actual authoritarian movement when it arrived. So they try to salvage their prior work by making bizarre comparisons. e.g. woke right
