The thing we'd really want before 2027 is to have won something, hard to put yourself in the top echelons going into a World Cup without that

That means the 2026 or 2027 6 Nations or the new Nations Championship. Suspect 2027 with France and Scotland at home is the best hope but it's only 3 chances

(Re)watching the France v Australia highlights, just some BEAUTIFUL passes from France for most of their tries. A few from Ntamack, some pearlers from Penaud (is he underrated as a passer?)

Pass of the night goes to Kalvin Gourges 😍😍😍 on the run, perfectly timed to arrive to LBB while he’s running

Can Italy please stop playing Ange Capuozzo at fullback? What in the world was he doing for that high ball for the 2nd Chile try???

Having our best scrummaging tight head lock injured doesn't help and our next best getting rightly sent off didn't either. We have nowhere near the front row depth and 2nd row depth of south africa.

Good grief

What do you mean the Irish scrums were bad? They won all their own ball!

20 scrums and 31 penalties total is an insane amount especially in a game in dry conditions.

The rugby gods give the invisibility cloak to a player every generation - giving it to a 2m tall player has tested the lengths of the cloak, but it works pretty well for Itoje
Maro Itoje is the best in the world at giving away penalties - genuine complement

Gives them away at the right time to save his team in key moments

It was a game we would have lost this time last year so nice to see that progression even if it wasn't as good a performance as last week

Feels like a team has to put in an actually quality performance to beat us now, suspect France and SA at home in 2026 will be able to but will be fun to find out

Could it be a little like how some of our fans treat Scot’s regards 6N? SA view the WC above all else & since we’ve done nothing in it they don’t feel like we have the right to talk/act like one of the best teams in the world despite our record against them? Seems to wind them up more than others.

I think 3 of them are looseheads, one is tighthead

But yes I've always been a fan of Milne.

I also think Joe McCarthy or keeping James Ryan on makes a difference to your scrum on Sat. Or getting guys like Edogbo in

IF you heard Willemse post match v ITA you realise it doesn't take much to rile up these springboks. He was talking mad about 2 time world cup winners being called 2nd string. The Ireland game they went too far with scrum in the 2nd half. They forgot bout the score just wanted to make a statement.
Mix that with the tactic to just bully Ireland as much as possible:

Seemed like the Boks were wound up to the nth degree for this game.

It’s crazy how much motivation they’re still able to find when they’ve achieved almost everything you can in rugby.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 v 🇦🇷 thoughts:

🏉 OJOMOH! We told you, Borthwick!
🏉 Piccardo is special!
🏉 Pollock had 16 tackles and a turnover in 30 minutes 🤯
🏉 Curry v Contepomi UFC fight when?
🏉 78 kicks in that game
🏉 Los Pumas are a set piece away from joining the top 5 club (they could make their attack more efficient too)

Okay I’m convinced he is a real Gunner now 🥹

This balances out Priti Patel and Piers Morgan being Arsenal fans now, doesn’t it?

For what it's worth I think it's as simple as (a) Ireland being the one team to reliably give Rassie's Boks trouble and (b) a perception generated by a few pundits on both sides that I think is largely innacurate that the Springboks (and South Africa in general) are not respected in Ireland.

In the interest of easing Irish/South African tensions, I propose that Matt Williams be exiled to the South Atlantic.
Of course the 👍🏾 by Rassie as well is evidence of that.

It’s genuine animosity.

What did Ireland do to make the Boks so mad?

Is this all about 2023? Is this about losing in Durban in 2024?

Is this about the long drought in Dublin?

Is this about the Cranberries?

Is this about Matt Williams?

Think this is missing in a lot of chat. It was clear Boks were more up for it. I was surprised to see the hand gestures to the crowds but Rassie probably had Matt Williams on repeat in the dressing room or some random Irish twitter account. It’s another reason I’m not as concerned about the result.

Watching the Ireland v South Africa highlights:

Seemed to be a lot of emotion from the South Africans - LOTS of chat and afters between the teams and the try celebrations being directed at the fans (both Willemse and SFM 🤫 at the crowd).

If reports are to be believed, Ryan Baird probably packed down in a 7 man scrum against the Boks with some form of break to the lower leg

Hopefully not out too long, he had an excellent November

Grizzlies announcers after Klay Thompson stood up for Flagg, after a dirty foul by Santi Aldama:
Klay Thompson has never been an enforcer - you're never going to be an enforcer in this league in any shape, way, or form"
November 24, 2025 at 6:18 AM
Exactly!

Mr “4 rings” was doing this and getting into it with players long before he started dating Meg. Not sure why I’m reading comments about other players being jealous of Klay and Meg
Klay Thompson trying to pretend he hasn’t been an asshole his whole career and now doesn’t like it happening to him because he’s on his way out of the league is definitely his white side coming out.
