The Raptors hold on a home seed or even a playoff spot is tenuous. A busy January will likely determine how real their post-season hopes are. A win over the Hawks was a good start. www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article/...

Raptors lead Hawks 77-70 in a very defense-optional first half. Hawks shooting 54/41, Raps at 58/42. Two teams have missed just two FTs too. Ingram with 18, is 8/10 on 2s all but his two dunks highly contested. Barnes with 14. Jalen Johnson 16/3/4. Daniels w 16&7, NAW with 15.

Scottie Barnes has other priorities than all-star votes, but a few more triple doubles could help his cause: www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article/...
'Trying to win basketball games': Barnes focused on results over all-star voting
Scottie Barnes deserves all-star recognition and there's not even much to debate about. Michael Grange has the story on Barnes' mindset and potential path to Los Angeles in February.

Scottie Barnes has had both his triple-doubles this season in the past week -- two in the past three games. He's up to eight for his career. Good chance there will be more to come:

Raptors' latest comeback bid falls short against Jokic-less Nuggets
It was a game the Raptors could have won and should have, and it surely wasn’t the way they wanted to end 2025. Michael Grange breaks down Toronto's New Year's Eve loss to a Jokic-less Denver team, ...

Scottie Barnes with 12 points and 3 assists on 5/6 shooting including 2/3 from three. The rest of the Raptors are 3/20 from floor and 1/11 from deep. Raptors trail the ghost Nuggets 32-23 after 1Q. Murray with 8 and 3 for Denver.

Raptors come back from down 10 in 4th (and 21 in 2Q) to hold off Magic 107-106. Barnes shakes off rough night to hit big 3 and get key stop on Banchero at Horne. Bench wins it tho: Shead with 19, Dick with 15 and Walter with 10. CMB with 12 reb. Raps 20-14 and 4th in East.

Legitimately surprised Raptors fan vote doesn’t have Scottie Barnes on somewhere on the East ballot. Nice to see Ingram in at 12th.

ICYMI: Here’s what I recently reported about Giannis Antetokounmpo on Sportsnet: “I’ve spoken to plenty of GMs that would love to have Giannis and have tried to talk to Bucks GM Jon Horst about acquiring him, and quite frankly, he’s not going anywhere they’ve been telling me.”

Raptors to update Poeltl’s back situation today. Not expecting anything ominous. Condition considered ‘annoying’ mainly. My understanding is ongoing rehab plan with eye on mid-January return. Goal is to have Poeltl’s day-to-day availability more certain than it has been.

Confirming Shams report on Raps signing Mo Bamba. Wrote/spoke about possibility last week. Raptors have clear need & when Bamba applies himself he's a cut above other options. Avg of 17/12 & 3 blocks in G-League. Deal is for rest of season, but doesn't guarantee until Jan. 10th.

RJ Barrett available vs. Warriors. He will be on a minutes restriction after being out five weeks. There is expected to be a medical update on Jakob Poeltl (back, out) on Monday. Collin Murray-Boyles (illness) is out vs. Warriors.

Spoke about Raptors C situation on pre-game show with Brad Fay: Raptors have 9 games in 13 days beginning Dec. 28th. Hard to imagine they go into that stretch with Poeltl's back as it is. Would be a good time to add a low-cost depth piece. Mo Bamba makes a lot of sense. We’ll see.
