It is sad, but not surprising, that the president of Mexico is wasting her time on frivolous matters like suing the man who groped her.

Don't make me push this idea too hard, but the Halloween-Marathon Day weekend double whammy, especially when we get to wake up on Sunday with the sun over the horizon, really does feel like the High Holy Days or the Carnival of NYC's civic religion. I love it so much.

@questingvole.bsky.social I use your NYT article about “Other Men’s Flowers” in my nonfiction writing class every year. So good—thank you!

For almost 40 years, I've used The Body Shop products pretty much exclusively, especially on my face. And now The Body Shop is no longer in the U.S., and I am bereft.

The sound of a dog quietly snoring under your desk is indisputably one of the best sounds. Nice start to the work day. Happy Tuesday, everyone.

All of a sudden, one of my gmail inboxes isn't working: no mail coming in. If you or someone you can help me with this, please get in touch. (Yes, of course, I pay.)

Absolutely my most interesting cat adoption story. Norman moved from Manhattan to Sweden and goes to camp every summer.
Norman Meowler is now visiting in Jämtland with my hot Swedish husband, the Tween, and Bob the Dog, absolute canine unit.

Just got home from Oak Ridge. And now.... may I introduce... my new kitty! Sissy is her "adoption name" but I'll probably rename her when she tells me what SHE thinks her name should be.

ACA premiums being 75% more next year is going to crush a lot of us freelancers/creatives/anyone who is already in precarity and that's the fucking point.

This very pretty, very young, very pregnant cat was living on the backstretch. She is very well taken care of by the trainer who owns her, and the barn adores her, but we decided it would be best if she had a safe, indoor place to have her babies.

I love when a cat like Dandy finds a home through the cat distribution system but remember: you can bring the CRS to you! If you're in the NYC area, please consider adopting or fostering from the NYACC, which has reached capacity and can no longer accept animals into care. www.nycacc.org
She has given them the flop of approval.

It is a mark of the innate inequity of our system that when working people want goods or services, they must pay upfront. But if corporations want goods and services they can pay for then when it suits them, typically well after they have received the goods and services.
