🔴I wrote about far-right attacks against refugee charities and why some are choosing to leave the sector to protect themselves. It's awful but understandable.

Oh god, it took me so many attempts to beat Typhon, the big-tongued weirdo. (Where using cast came in really handy in the end, if you can get it properly upgraded, he's a sitting duck for cast damage.)

If you’re in the UK and were born between 1970-1990 you can just go to your GP and get revaccinated for MMR because you may have had single vaccines, which are no longer considered valid. I went & did it this summer. Easy way to help protect yourself & your community.
If you are worried this is too big an executive function barrier you can go to a pharmacy and they will probably just jab you. That is what I did.

I'm not saying it's necessarily the right way to do this, that is just how much I am not fucking around with the measles
Go to your doctor and get your measles titers checked to make sure you are still immune and if not get re-vaccinated. It’s more and more likely all of us are going to eventually come in contact with it.

Meanwhile Robin Ince genuinely has been cancelled for daring to voice his opinions and for defending trans people.

Where's the outrage from the "cancel culture" lot?

What are the Free Speech Union doing to help him?

"London had around 104 homicides last year. Let’s put that number into context – New Orleans had 124 homicides last year. That might make London look just a little bit safer than New Orleans, but here’s the thing – more than nine million people live in London, but only 360,000 live in New Orleans."

This was excellent fun! A fantastic show, and all for a good cause.
Here's the curtain call last night - we had a ball, with the brilliant Lee Mack, Miles Jupp, Richard Ayoade, Paterson Joseph, KCs and judge - and Professor Emma Smith @oldfortunatus.bsky.social who stole the show. A big thank you to Josie Rourke and all at CSSF.

A glorious thread - culture is important and Magnum P.I. is awesome.
I'm re-watching Magnum P.I. and I can't believe how vastly superior the 1980s ideal of masculinity is, vs today's whining, lying misogynist edgelord ideal that we see in culture all the way up to the Presidency.
The 50's stereotypical man had at least some other things to offer. Typically noble or stoic. Perhaps serving the greater good. Instead it's now a bunch of energy drink selfish neurotics who spend too much time at the gym and have no developed personality at all but being online.

My free advice to this couple? Instead of paying £47k a year in school fees and scraping by, stick 15k a year in each kid's bank account so that they each have around £100k at age 18 to spend on a house, business or uni. You then have £17k/year leftover to spend on luxuries. Better life all round

It's also: you don't know who is going to become what. A society more confident in itself would believe a little bit more in its ability to make anyone thrive and give back.
My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Genuinely what are people like Ed West doing with their lives? Go to Wigmore Hall, go to the movies, go to Koko, go to the Vortex Jazz Club, go see an orchestra, go see the Last Dinner Party...it ought to cure you out of having this weird, unnatural reaction to your fellow citizens.
No surprise that Ed West thinks you have to be white for London to be "your city", but still shocking that the *London* Standard prints this stuff.

[NB 1/2 of Londoners born in 2000 were not "white British"]
