Last night we at @discordpod.bsky.social recorded our second annual Thank You For The Music episode, and let me tell you the playlist for this episode is *nuts*.

Imagine being one of those CEOs or school presidents who bowed down to this weird old man, then realizing he doesn’t like you as much as he likes this guy who didn’t bow at all
Trump frickin' loves this guy lmao

The debate over whether he means things like this literally is tangential to the reality that this guy has spent over a decade wondering aloud into the world’s largest megaphone whether anyone among his violent, unstable followers will rid him of these turbulent priests.

Best use of an ongoing reference to a 1 second excerpt from a Mutt Lange-produced album
Fun (maybe?) exercise: Try to come up with a set of podcast awards that makes sense.

I don't think lumping together interview pods and explainer pods and news and history etc etc makes sense!
please show me a single human being who wants to watch a podcast host accept an award on live television, you can’t, they don’t exist

I knew him as Adam Bahner. The world knows him as Tay Zonday, the man who sang "Chocolate Rain"

He sounded exactly the same at age 15 as he does as an adult
Who was in your high school graduating class, +/- two years, that would be of interest?

For example, I took a basketball class and graduated w/all-time 8th man Jud Buechler (look it up), and may have followed Stephanie Seymour (not sure if she still WENT to school after I moved there).

It's a very bad thing when an economy has allocated its resources such that all investors in the entire stock market spend a week throwing up from nerves in the lead up to learning the quarterly earnings of one company

Miss me with this instant forgiveness of Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s no hero. She’s Christoph Waltz at the end of Inglorious Basterds.

Earlier today I had a podiatrist do a long overdue cleanup of an ingrown toenail that had eclipsed my ability to manage, and I know I will feel better in the long run, but right this second I am feeling regrets

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

A thought popped into my mind re: TFTO yesterday. I think a case can be made that the biggest mistake the band made with this album was explicitly spelling out the ideas behind its creation in the liner notes.
A super deluxe boxset of TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS comes out next year, and while I probably won't buy it for now (life requires me to mind my spending right now) I'm glad we live in a world where public opinion allows such a release to exist.
