We actually don't have to accept medical advice from a leatherfaced man with a brain worm whose family lobotomized his aunt for what may well have been garden variety neurodivergence.
Raised in the East Bay and I say HELL YEAH. These kids are rad.

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

It’s pretty jarring at this time to see so many people saying clearly: stop terrorizing and taking our neighbors

While leaders try to synthesize the ask as: take our neighbors more politely

anyway i know how many of you hate that i’m so vocal about this and think it makes me a naive shitlib or whatever. but again, i think the best thing you could do for yourself here is to get involved in election administration where you live.

Believing Jesus would support the violent expulsion of migrants is the definition of "using the Lord's name in vain."

Your cruelty is not of God, no matter who you think you are.

Jesus Christ, y'all. Has "I told you so!" ever changed a mind?
What are we doing?
We can call people in with grace. This does not mean washing over bad choices (or even bad takes)! But it does mean that your satisfaction in being right is not a substitute for, like... action.

This cannot be accepted. This is a bullshit move to try and keep the status of the occupation basically unchanged but try and play it off as a compromise
With the immediate removal of 700 federal agents from Minnesota, border czar Tom Homan put the total number of agents remaining in the state at approximately 2,000.

That’s still a dramatic increase from the normal immigration and enforcement staffing in Minnesota of around 150 agents.

I truly believe there is nothing more important that civic-minded multi-millionaires could do right now than start up local newspapers and run them at a small but steady loss

and the benefits are amazing -- everyone has to talk to you and you get to act like you're a good and important person
WaPo's Matt Murray told staff the paper is shuttering sports, moving remaining staff to features, shrinking foreign coverage, restructuring metro, closing books coverage, suspending Post Reports podcast

“Whole company now waiting for a live or die email” one staffer said

Last in, first out has been happening over and over again with companies that talked a big game about DEI in 2020.
My position at The Post was eliminated, along with many other journalists of color hired after the 2020 racial reckoning.

I still think the best idea for progressive donors is to just revive every alt-weekly in the country and staff them with 10 reporters each.
I wrote a bit about the misguided effort by Democrats to replicate Joe Rogan the right-wing podcast ecosystem.

"under my leadership, our newspaper has lost readers and subscribers at record rates. this shows that I was correct about what was wrong with the newspaper."
Notable bits from this email:
- WaPo search has declined by half in three years
- Daily story output has "substantially fallen" in the last five years
- Murray argues: "we too often write from one perspective, for one slice of the audience."

Most of y'all know The Post as a national voice, but this is also my folks' hometown paper and watching Bezos feed it to a woodchipper hurts, damnit!
before Bezos bought it, the Washington Post made a strategic decision it wasn’t for the people of Washington, D.C. The metro desk was cut. The sports desk was tilted towards national. The erasure of the value of the residents of the city it was supposed to serve was insulting and a losing strategy.

I will vote for ANY Dem who shows this kind of guts. No mealymouthed reform shit. Prosecute every last one.
Philidelphia DA Larry Krasner warns ICE: If an agent commits crimes in Philly, I will charge you. You will be arrested. You will stand trial, and you will be convicted in state or federal court and you will do your time. Donald Trump can't pardon you for a state court conviction.

We have to understand that this is an ideology that will destroy anything and everything, including the ability for humans to continue to live on this planet, in defense of the vile myth of white supremacy they rely upon for fortune and identity.

That’s what “Republicans are a death cult” means.

After Nixon was forced to resign, Republicans took the lesson not to stop being corrupt, but to demolish shared reality.

After Romney lost with scant minority support, Republicans took the lesson not to stop being racist, but to demolish democracy.

Once Trump is gone, what lesson will they take?

You know this guy has no friends our age, because most of us have kids this age or know our friends' feral teenagers, and we understand these kids are:

- Mean as rabid cats
- Funny as hell
- Unafraid
and
- Ready to make you famous
