What do you MEAN the president audibly SHIT himself live on camera and they immediately cancelled the press conference and rushed everyone out of the room like it's a fire drill, and it happened two days ago, and I'm just hearing about it NOW?

Does the President wear adult diapers or is he going through fresh Hanes like Kleenex? The public demands the answers.

I think the actual value is that if any reform effort will be met with full resistance then it allows you to say "well we tried but looks like we'll just have to abolish the whole agency after all." But you still need electeds willing to say that.

It was galling hearing stuff like this during campaign season because it was basically centrist types going "man I look forward to when we get to collectively hamstring you annoying lefties again because we are joyfully wicked!"

I saw someone say he's floating a Presidential run to get interviews where he can spout the usual centrist drivel and punch left, and that made more sense to me than him thinking he actually has a shot. Then again maybe he's just a really egotistical dumb guy. Lots of that going around.

They don't think about why they lie. It's just instinct. Lying comes easier than the truth to these people even if they had nothing to gain by it.

Step 1: Make getting govt. benefits you're owed as difficult as possible with means-testing and bureaucratic roadblocks.
Step 2: Lie and say another group of people is actually raking in benefits without any of that hassle.

There's an enormous gulf between someone who earnestly says "I want to make life more affordable for you and here's how" and someone using affordability as a cynical dodge to avoid talking about other issues and doesn't really have any plans to make stuff cheaper anyway. People see the difference.

I mean the answer for at least some of them is gonna be "because polls were only ever an excuse and this time the polls are leading somewhere they don't want to follow."

Not only on his left hand but in the one spot on the hand that never makes contact in a normal handshake.

I had a relative take me to a Halloween haunted house as a tiny child and they were playing it on a TV inside. I was curious what it was and they told me and then I started begging my parents to rent it and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen at that age.

When you think about it demolishing 1/3 of a historic building to construct a grand monument to your own ego is a lot like installing a water jet on a toilet.

Dems are used to ignoring the concerns of their own voters, but they're probably not ready for the amount of well-earned disrespect they're going to get from their peers and equivalents around the world next time they're in charge of government.

Are we also gonna have people from LA, Minneapolis, and likely soon Philadelphia barred from speaking at the next DNC?
January 19, 2026 at 2:51 AM
People are justly afraid of Dems anointing another establishment pick who crashes and burns in the general but I honestly don't think they're going to be able to pull that off unless nobody with a shred of credibility even tries to run. The path is wide open for anyone who doesn't suck.

I'm simultaneously extremely pessimistic about Congressional Dems while also kinda hopeful for the Presidency because I think if even a single good candidate runs leadership is going to struggle to kneecap them this time because their own base is sick of their shit and may be in open revolt by then.

I thought the reveal of Canto Bight was kinda funny (they tee you up to expect a classic "wretched hive of scum and villainy" and instead of a grimy smuggler's den it's a rich people casino) and then every minute you actually spend there was zero fun.

I was wondering to myself yesterday how much of the current consultant pushback on "Abolish ICE" is trying to persuade Dems not to take up that cause vs. clocking that they already weren't going to so they better start laying the groundwork now for why inaction is once again the correct strategy.

I gotta imagine there's a large number of people who genuinely do not know what protein is or where it comes from, just that their favorite leathery-skinned hoarse-voiced wellness gurus say it's good for them.

I have very little sympathy for the people who whine "but some accounts I follow don't post anywhere else," but I have negative ten thousand sympathy for anyone who insists that posting there is somehow important work and a burden they're forced to bear.

I really think this guy is going to get demolished at the first debate. The comparisons to DeSantis are not far off the mark.

People who will talk down to you about never underestimating Republican chicanery but also think McConnell wouldn't have kept a SCOTUS seat vacant for 4+ years if he had to.

Item level jumps have gotten more drastic since they started doing squishes. Wrath had four tiers of raiding and the difference between Naxx gear and ICC gear was 70-80 item levels, with Ruby Sanctum bumping that up to mid-80s.
The current xpac has three raids and like a 100 item level gap.

Seeing people say good things about Will and bad things about Frey in the same breath and hey buddy guess which mayoral candidate Will voted for and said other people should vote for.

My initial thought was just suckers but then other people pointed out that this is just how you launder bribes these days.
