The spec may be a behemoth at 1500 pages, but the RFP explicitly allows for alternate designs & standards (including aluminum!) to cast the widest possible net of rolling stock platforms. SEPTA is leaving no stone unturned

Baltimore just eliminated parking minimums, reduced lot line setbacks, and allowed single-stair buildings for buildings up to six stories

Interesting model for the Camden line which terminates at a light rail station already
Here's a public transit model a lot more cities need to know about.
It's the #Karlsruhe Stadtbahn. It runs tram-trains, in this metro region in #Germany of 310,000.
Outside town, they run as standard commuter trains. Inside town, they operate as trams (streetcars)—no need to change mode.

💯 I think a uniquely American problem that so much policy is made by people who have never lived in an apartment or a walkable neighborhood and can’t really comprehend one.
Soemthing that is always notable to me about Americans is that they struggle to find the right language to discuss transit or cities at all. You often hear them say things like “build bus lines” or call things light rail when they definitely are not.
A line that stuck out to me (and I think nobody else) in yesterday's NJGov debate: Ciattarelli (GOP nominee) describing the turnpike as a "mass transit system."

I don’t know if this ddot pilot is the reason but I’ve definitely seen a shift from motos to E-bikes in the last few months. Either way it’s a big improvement!
