This is a totally new dynamic and Randy Clark seems to be the driver

The funding ask is in with MD, VA, DC governments. They are selling this as much cheaper than previously planned blue loop.

Fair point. I think there’s also a heuristic that anyone talking about cutting waste must think the service itself is a waste. If you want more transit you typically ask for more transit money.

And commuter rail is white collar, you’d expect higher trust.

We need to make 18th street a pedestrian plaza so badly
November 12, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Sure but there’s no wires on the Camden line where we’re talking about running them

TEX Rail FLIRT
266’ 4 segment
176 tons empty

LRV
285’ 3 car
162 tons empty

Both seem to be 9.5’ wide
November 10, 2025 at 1:14 AM
Yeah probably just stop at Camden, Lexington market, and Penn
November 9, 2025 at 4:04 PM
How close do you get to this with a low floor DMU? FLIRT or something is FRA compliant, is it that different in some way from a low-floor LRV?

Just for the sake of argument assume you’re running the same Camden line service pattern but extending the runs.

I wasn’t thinking through the tunnel. Crossover to the light rail tracks and then at grade up Howard to the Penn station light rail platform.
November 9, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Wheaton Costco also metro accessible although you have to cross a parking lot
November 8, 2025 at 2:35 AM
Firing back with the pentagon city Costco. Metro accessible and walkable.

Don’t think it was an accident. Gene Roddenberry was just a socialist. It’s a commie utopia.
November 7, 2025 at 3:23 PM
I think so
November 5, 2025 at 6:20 PM
Would FRA allow this? I have wondered if it would work for the Camden line, which terminates at a light rail station. Could it run up to Penn?
November 5, 2025 at 4:19 PM
Apologies this was a joke. A normal bus decided to let passengers off at the streetcar stop because the light was red. As it happens he demonstrated that the streetcar platforms match the bus height perfectly already.
