Such a true statement. Going to QT this just to help promote David McRaney’s book “You’re Not So Smart”. That book changed my life enormously for the better.

It really gives credence to the argument that staying on Twitter too long will fry your brain and that audience capture is real, especially amongst those who get validation from social media, but are too ashamed to admit it openly.
Not tagging or QT to avoid looking like a pile-on, but there's a Big Journo convo going on, and it's really clarifying how the bad replies on here affect them so much more because they're directly targeted at them, vs the absolutely mad environment over there, which is just ambient noise. Not great!

At this point, the wealthy class funneling money into Musk's ventures only makes sense when it's understood as an expression of class solidarity. There is no defensible argument, rooted in reality, other than something akin to "i'm betting on musk because that's what rich people are doing."

The idea that modern conservatism is based on the idea of in groups in which the law protects but does not bind, and outgroups in which the law binds but does not protect l, is exemplified almost daily in the deluge of Fox News clips I’m subjected to against my will on this site.

Lot of mad people around these parts, sure, but blue tick media accounts coming on here to whine about how they’re not praised enough to make it worth cross-posting on BSky is not exactly a great look. You have to make at least a modicum of effort on a social platform to build the audience you want.

Even prior to the revolution, the extent to which the planter class speculated in illegal western lands was a huge source of wealth. Imagine making a polymarket bet that Canada gets annexed and writing up a bullshit land title claiming all the land in Ontario, then selling that to tenant farmers.

I agree with this, good luck getting rural America to mass mobilize to get / renew their passports.
The funny thing about the MAGA voter ID crusade is...are they SURE they want to do that? Increase the hurdles to advantage the most motivated? Because I assure you, Democratic voters will jump through any hoop you put in front of them to get a ballot cast. Can MAGA say the same of its voters?
