I will say this for the past year: a year containing a fair bit of terror, a year when I thought I might completely lose my career due to the collapse of my ex-publisher. It puts the important things in life into sharp focus. And none of those things are material objects.

Strengthen laws around intimate partner violence, yes. But religious leaders need to condemn it from the pulpit and men need to call out their friends for it or the law won’t do much.
