Give me old people any day. They are so enthusiastic and welcoming. Maybe because they haven’t been online all their lives.

You could begin your penance by coming to see me chat with Mei Chin about Chinese literature @gutterbookshop.bsky.social on Thursday at 6.30pm.

It's free!

we are trapped
in the amber of the moment
there is no why

inside a house
falling on billowing sheets
beams of sunlight

like birds
the fluttering pages
of torn books in the wind

the sun
breaks through cloud
illuminates a small field

Not quite as bad as give those books away you are never going to read them
Throw them extra dipping sauces and ketchup packets in that drawer out. You are never going to use them.

Birthday weekends can run into Mondays too. (Special dispensation from the ILT.)
It's my birthday weekend!

Which has empowered me to be extremely cheeky now and say that if you enjoyed SISTER WAKE and feel like giving me a lil birthday present, getting to 50 reviews on Amazon is incredibly important for a book's reach and every one helps - even a rating and a couple of words!

We're sparing no expense and updating the ILT's computer system to the latest state of the art model. The techie's a bit dour but seems to know what he's doing. However, it's a little concerning when he keeps muttering about there being a crack in everything. (I feel like telling him to lighten up.)

Huh, I used to design a wall version of these for Russell Hobbs. Thought they sent the way of the dodo.
Our water kettle broke and we're just going to speedrun into being old Asians by getting one of these to replace it. Anyone have one? Should we get a 3l or 4l?
