And of course they didn't. It's mayhem here. I am shutting it down. The lights have been doused and the netting dropped from the ceiling. If they got paid, I'd have had to dock their wages. I'll be disbanding the Entertainments Committee first thing in the morning.
The ILT's Saturday night staff soiree is just getting underway. I do hope they behave themselves this time. #chinchin

I'm saddened to learn that Irish poet Mary Guckian passed away in September. She had been ill and we were in touch by phone and text over the summer.
She wrote beautifully about life and her childhood home in Leitrim.
Here she is in her younger years.

Wouldn’t it be great if the Dublin Marathon organisers could put an appearance fee on the table that’d make it worth Fionnuala McCormack’s while to line up in the coming years?

👇I have Pat Kenny to thank for that and his late night radio show Nightbus.
I remember, in my gloomy teenage years, listening to the radio late at night under the covers when I was supposed to be asleep and hearing The Gypsy's Wife (never having heard Leonard Cohen before) and was stunned. Genuinely stunned. Besotted thereafter. Spurred to write.
Leonard Cohen who died on this day 2016:
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
