Ponied up for a month of newspapers.com, went right to the New York Daily News and quickly found this gem from Feb 16, 1936.

My favourite word for “slow motion”from another language is the German Zeitlupe. It means “time magnifying glass”

Posting up at the monthly back-end tournament here in Berlin. Currently going quite well so much so that I have time for a bite before the next round. I got a new lucky hat!

I knew the reason why eggs here in Europe aren't refrigerated, but I didn't know that every single one of 'em would have a code on the shell. Found it curious, figured it was quality control of some sort. And it is! At a farmer's market yesterday came across a neat placard explaining it. 1/2

Great piece by Zadie Smith. When the right talks about classics or "Western" culture, these works are only important to the extent that it demonstrates their superiority, they have no interest in art in and of itself beyond that www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Remember when Roger Sterling had a mustache? It's important that we not let this kind of image slip from our collective memories.

I use deck.blue and have a column set up for food/cooking. A day like today where I'm a little down on myself can be difficult, but seeing all the posts of folks and their food creations really helps get me back to 'normal'.

Knives are in need of sharpening. Multiple choices here in Berlin...go back to the Zwilling shop where I bought them (EXPENSIVE), or go to the 'Knife Spa' a short distance away...just outside the city...on the outskirts of the Grunwald (forest/park). Yeah! I'm on a quest to find the local Hunter!

So relevant again today:

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist.”

Foggy chill day in Hamburg, just the way I like it. Breakfast at a local Portuguese bakery. Walked a portion of the harbor, then up through the park.
