The Replacements briefly covered "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" on Oct 15, 1985, the first gig of a 5-night homestand at the 7th Street Entry, opening with a song off their new album "Tim"—"Lay It Down, Clown"—and this was next. Video image is the Entry + the Fitz

At 20 years old, Karl A. Peckol was the youngest crew member of the Edmund Fitzgerald. He would now be 70 years young.

As I was walking the dogs this bleak fall day, I found myself whistling the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I’m sure this is thanks to all the people writing about the 50th anniversary of the wreck. Anyway, sorry, neighbors! 😄

Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:
The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

Someone fell and cut their head on the ice last night at curling, and the terrible thud is still in my head. He seems to be ok (likely needed a few stitches). After he left for the ER, we got to witness the macabre process of an ice tech scraping up bloody ice next to our sheet. 😬

I wonder if this maple tree feels like I do when the groomer sends my doodle home with a schnauzer cut. Still pretty but not really my style…

I tried a new apple, kissabel. It’s a nice tart apple that appears to have bled all its outside color in. It’s a little weird to eat; but tasty!

Serendipity!
David Byrne's bandleader Ray Suen broke his prized violin ahead of the Talking Heads performer's show in Minneapolis.
But by an incredible stroke of serendipity, the man who made that very violin two decades ago was just a few miles away in New Brighton.

The Sandwich Guy jury (allegedly) didn't know about this case when they were seated. Non-zero chance at least one juror thought they were on S2 of Jury Duty upon learning what the case was.

We’re getting to the last days to enjoy the most beautiful block—if you’re anywhere near, I cannot recommend Summit Ave just east of Cleveland. Driving, walking or riding down that block under the orange canopy is a magical—photos don’t do it justice. Even better if the sun comes out.
