1. This year, the Minneapolis Institute of Art sponsored two prizes, so there were lots of entries inspired by fine art. These are the two winners:

Haha I’ve been texting photos to my kid all night, forgetting he’s red-green colorblind. I’ll check with him later and ask what they look like to him. Mostly he just misses things if there are clusters of red and green together, like leaves.
If we weren’t all so online, you wouldn’t have been treated with all these fabulous Aurora borealis photos because we wouldn’t have known to go outside ☺️
I called my mom and told her to go out if she could to see the aurora. She sent me a couple pics and then I remembered I gave her my old phone so she doesn’t have a very good camera. Oops! 😅
I stopped a lady who was walking and looking down and make her look up at the bright pink cloud above. Then I showed it to her on my phone too. Neither of us had seen the aurora borealis with the naked eye in the city. She thanked me :)

Aurora borealis in my backyard, with some pinks and light green
It is really hard to get away from the excessively bright street lamp light.
If you can get out of the city I bet the northern lights are amazing, but they’re pretty cool from Saint Paul!
Seeing Joyce Carol Oates trending and going from oh no did she die ?? to seeing why she was really trending was a really fun ride
I don’t think I could come up with a list of things I was right about, let alone wrong about. My brain doesn’t store info like that

The Replacements briefly covered "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" on Oct 15, 1985, the first gig of a 5-night homestand at the 7th Street Entry, opening with a song off their new album "Tim"—"Lay It Down, Clown"—and this was next. Video image is the Entry + the Fitz

At 20 years old, Karl A. Peckol was the youngest crew member of the Edmund Fitzgerald. He would now be 70 years young.
As I was walking the dogs this bleak fall day, I found myself whistling the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I’m sure this is thanks to all the people writing about the 50th anniversary of the wreck. Anyway, sorry, neighbors! 😄
