I hate reading about how huge & beloved this stuff is while knowing how hard creators have it & how it still isn't broadly taken seriously

30 years ago my first script was the subject of a bidding war between Paramount and Castle Rock. Par won, and the script was rewritten into oblivion. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if we went with Reiner’s company. Still might not have been made, but I’m sure it would have been better.

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.
