I think the Greenland threat is a troll. I think.

But it would sure be nice for some senators and GOP house members to speak up now and make it clear that an attack on a nato ally would lead to removal from office

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

In the before times, you might have expected some shame or at least embarrassment from people whose initial 48 hours of reactions amounted to "you've gotta hand it to Trump, Maduro's Chavismo regime is bad bad bad and freeing Venezuela of it is a virtue, even if it was illegal" now that...

Precisely. This isn’t about Kelly as if they expect it to have any effect on him or other members of Congress. It’s about using his prominence to make an example of what they can and will do to people vastly less powerful and secure.
This is designed to have a chilling effect on all retired service members. The message is that if you speak out, you risk your retirement pay.

NEW POST

While cities across North America struggle with housing shortages, Edmonton is proving that zoning reform works.

In 2025, for the first time in history, the number of homes permitted in 5-8 unit rowhomes surpassed detached homes. 🧵

Edmonton’s zoning reform is working. In 2025, newly legalized eight-home rowhomes drove a record increase in homebuilding, achieved by redeveloping only 0.39% of properties in mature neighbourhoods.

I've spent a non-trivial portion of the day explaining this to people in my DMs. Had no idea simple facts about oil supply chains are controversial.
A reminder that this entire to-do started because Sky pointed out - with their relevant professional experience - that Venezuelan oil is Not Great and offers really no advantage over Canadian Tar Sands oil, and therefore, to the extent that this war *is* about oil, it's a dumb reason to go to war
