I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Instead of withdrawing from Gaza, Israel has imposed a so-called "Yellow-Line," leaving its military occupying 58% of Gaza and forcibly confining Palestinians to the remaining 42 percent. This largely unmarked and lethal boundary functions as de facto annexation... 1/3

Post-holiday crash hit hard. Walked to the end of the driveway for trash cans & now can’t stay upright. This is post-exertional malaise in action: seemingly minor tasks stealing days of function. I wrote about why I can’t just meet for dinner:

Recently functionalities like noise cancellation & echo cancellation arrived in low cost technology.
Takes ‘energised brain level processing power’ to eliminate distractions.
IMO unlikely memory related.
We are unconsciously very capable, but low powered brain processes slowly, with fewer threads.

Net migration has already collapsed — down nearly 80% from its 2023 peak. 📈

Fewer people are coming, fewer are staying, and more are packing up to leave.

So what’s driving this?

Given the mainstream coverage of immigration, this headline will surprise many.

But the truth is that net migration is close to zero — and could even go negative this year — which would have profound impacts on life in the UK & dent the govt coffers.

I've seldom felt compelled to block people on BlueSky. But the hunger strike has mobilised some people's worst instincts: "Let them die! It's all their fault!" etc etc. It appears to trigger a deep, and deeply disturbing, inhumanity. I must have blocked 20 of them by now.
A number of people on this platform have been claiming that it's not up to government to shorten people's time on remand, however far beyond the statutory limit that time extends.
Well, take it from a very eminent retired judge. It is.

I always wonder if “sleep dept & extreme fatigue” could be equally ‘upstream’ of what is viewed as “poor working memory”?
Maybe “sleep deprived” controls might be a useful cohort for this type of study?

It absolutely works when it comes to objective facts, like what proteins do or what causes cancer.

It does not work, and will never work, when subjective experience is involved.

There is no such thing as expertise that can know better lived subjective experience than those living it.

One of the biggest tells of how blatantly screwed up medicine's mishandling of chronic illnesses is comes from physicians who end up suffering from them pretty much all saying that it's nothing like what they were taught it's like and no one else in the profession is bothered by that.
If you're wondering how the medical community can ignore a disease that causes all of the damage laid out in the thread below, take note of the fact that continuing medical education processes are so outdated and ineffectual that many can't even recognize #longCOVID when they get it themselves.
