Idea for growth: run public transport at the time of year when everyone wants to travel across the country in order to give people things they will have spent money on

OK, actually there are specifically two trains running in the whole of the UK today.

One is going between Heathrow Central and Heathrow T5, and one is going between Heathrow Central and Heathrow T4.

My local corner shop, usually open until midnight, is only open until 11pm today.

This reminds me! Five years ago I had a chat with the local council official who created “Winterval” in 1998. A real canary in the coal mine of future British culture wars. TBH the real story is that councils used to have money to spend on cultural events. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Lmao, the ICC judges illegally sanctioned by the US had their bank account frozen, emails closed and.... "Their amazon alexa stop responding to them".

If your cost-benefit model tells you it isn't worth investing in a tram or light rail system for an urban area with a population of well over 1m, like Leeds-Bradford, your model is wrong and should be thrown in the bin.

Legalize growth
Remember when HS2 to Leeds was cancelled by the NIC's shitty maths and fundamental lack of expertise, and Leeds was thrown the bone of "you'll get trams" and I said those would never be delivered?

Yeah, as I was saying...

There's an incredibly sad story that's been aggregated across most national and local newspapers today. Standard local shop experience.

Step 1: I won't order bike lube on Amazon, I'll try the local shop.

2: Walk there on my 30-min lunch break

3: "Back in 5 mins" sign.

4: Wait 10 mins

5: Order on Amazon outside the shop and walk home, unlikely to ever return
