This movie seems to have been quite polarizing, but I thought it was pretty well done. A fine though lesser addition to the same nuclear subgenre as Fail Safe and Crimson Tide. There's some good quibbling about the specifics of the scenario in this article www.npr.org/2025/10/24/n...
Here's what experts say 'A House of Dynamite' gets wrong (and right) about nuclear war
Some praised realistic elements like the depiction of the White House situation room. But others said parts of the plot didn't ring true.

This seems... unnecessary. I love how the ending of DS9 feels like it opens up so many possibilities at the same time as it neatly wraps up the story - a satisfying conclusion that leaves the viewer with an invitation to think, wonder, and imagine. www.denofgeek.com/tv/star-trek...

This asymmetry, by the way, should be one of the clues that people like Pierre Poilievre who try to draw an equivalence between socialism and Nazism... let's see, how can I put this as kindly as possible? Ah yes, they have shit for brains
"It's a nice idea in theory but it doesn't work in practice" is something that we've all heard people say about socialism, but no one has ever, EVER said about Nazism

Except for the people who made the 2nd season Star Trek episode "Patterns of Force". Man, that is a weird fucking episode.

This post inspired me to rewatch The Man Trap, which has lots of fun stuff going on in it. But for realsies, why not just give the creature its salt and leave it alone? Instead they kill the lone survivor of a dead civilization for revenge's sake and then make a crack about it
Captain Kirk is the first person that we actually see eating the colourful food cubes, on the Enterprise bridge in #StarTrekTOS' "The Man Trap". He seems to prefer the blue and green ones and the sound he makes when chewing on them (at 27:30 and 28:13) suggests that they are painted pieces of apple.
