suddenly very glad i follow the nuclear proliferation folks like martin:
Damn it, he's gotten around to nuclear weapons.

So, an "equal basis" of testing nuclear weapons with Russia and China is probably about what we're doing now with some advantages (eg, access to fusion burn)...

If your city is really lucky, you’ll get a weird girl who goes above & beyond to celebrate squid.
Maybe she has a Squidmobile & glues 🦑 on poles. Maybe she gets on stage to sing about squid, dressed as a 🦑.
Philadelphia & Tokyo are both lucky.
Extremely cool to meet my Tokyo counterpart today ☺️

i've only gotten to this point thanks to the many cephalopod scientists such as @sarahmackattack.bsky.social, who have been beyond generous with their time and expertise.
Screaming inside with joy seeing @jeffday.bsky.social on the slide at the cephalopod international advisory council meeting this morning.

please bask in the 4K glory of @nautiluslive.org's recent magnapinna observation
We encountered this #BigfinSquid (genus Magnapinna) over 5,100 meters deep while exploring the abyssal plain in the waters of the #CookIslands. They are rarely ever seen by humans and are the only squid known to live as deep as the hadal zone. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UvS...

4K footage of that cirrate octopus encounter from nautilus earlier this week; looks much more like cirrothauma than grimpoteuthis to me, though.
Spotted: a dumbo octopus (Grimpoteuthis genus) on the abyssal plain in the waters of the #CookIslands, over 5,000 meters deep. Watch for a gorgeous look at the underside of this octopus, including the rows of suckers on its eight tentacles.
