The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

The thing is that I agree with the notion that we need a broad coalition! Candidates exactly like Mamdani aren’t necessarily going to clean up everywhere! The thing is that I suspect a lot of the centrists saying that not every candidate can be Mamdani actually want NO candidates to be Mamdani
The GOP and a lot of centrists tbh, I hope some big name Dem electeds and strategists are feeling VERY uneasy right now

Congratulations Mississippi. Congratulations Georgia. Congratulations Virginia.

Congratulations to all the small-but-crucial races all over the country where people fought against white supremacist authoritarian kleptocracy and WON.

You did this. You made this happen, all of you. Thank you.

The total faceplanting of anti-trans messaging is an unalloyed good.

Mamdani was a very promising candidate and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does while remembering it's a very difficult job in a city that, historically, starts hating its mayors moments after they're elected.

wait, are you telling me that all the centrist pundits who insisted that Dems wouldn't win any future elections unless/until they threw trans people under the bus turned out to be wrong? how could this be?!? 😱

New Poll: Voters Prefer Democratic Candidates Approach To Trans Rights Over Republicans
A new poll, which surveys voters who will partake in the New Jersey and Virginia governor races, found that voters were not impressed with Republican anti-trans positions.

Voted about 6 p.m. My heavily Somali precinct was almost beating 2021 total turnout with only in-person votes at that point. We'll see what kind of difference it makes.

Personal Me: I voted early, in person for the first time since 2019. I was in line behind two Somali American women, one of them disabled, and they were having the best day ever. They were so excited, it lit the place up. Honor that. If you haven’t voted yet, get your ass out there and do it.

90% of political coverage should be telling voters what Ds and Rs do when they wield power.

Yes Dems can be feckless and performative but if you're a low-information voter who likes it when poor kids eat, you should just vote Dem and not overthink it. Pundits are weirdly allergic to saying this.

Men are too emotional to be Supreme Court justices
Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during today's second oral arguments has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. He is so eager to kill a service member's lawsuit against a negligent government contractor that he keeps interrupting other justices, raising his voice, and getting emotional. Weird and erratic.

Oddly enough, we're not talking Trump here. Not the first time I've thought this while reading about how Frey operates. Or the second.

The whole thread is worth reading.
That maybe sounds like hyperbole, but I mean that exactly as I say it. He will call people and just scream at them if he’s mad about something you said on the dais or in the media. This dynamic is even worse if you’re a woman.
