One of the great failures of contemporary political news coverage in a lot of media is the unspoken principle that no violation of norms or decency by Trump is really news, worthy of sustained attention, unless it also upsets people who love him. It isn't "not taking the bait"; it's sleepwalking.

I'm not a broken windows policing guy for normal people but it is interesting that you just never see that discourse applied to rich people. A lot of what is happening is directly downstream of the fact that Trump's superpower is that he realized the law is essentially fake for people like him.
