Are We Sure the CFP Committee Does Anything? Well, it offers a great TV show, or at least a means for ESPN to fill up more content. Of course ESPN is an interested party in the CFP's success itself as its lone TV rights owner. So, the ability to push the CFP Top 25 while having talking heads' heads yap about the Meaning of It All is a beautiful way of the network making its own news.

Nico Harrison and the Worst Trade Ever Made Well, what seemed inevitable happened. The Dallas Mavericks axed Nico Harrison. I guess these sounds at home games started to wear on them: The Dallas Mavericks are 3-9 this season and somehow were bad and lucky enough to win the draft lottery last season. Having two seasons circle the drain like this was certainly not on my bingo card when the Mavericks lost to the Celtics in the 2024 Finals.

There is Nothing Like Baseball's Best I have certainly fallen out of love with baseball. I have not stopped following it fully - but as the sport has gotten more strikeout and homerun-centric, the romance of players figuring out how to adapt, and bunt singles and whatnot is gone. The sport in a lot of important ways has turned into the most exciting beer league in the world.

Seems pretty clear Schumer knew it would be rejected. The Democrats actually don't have power - doing something small that puts the GOP on blast in the midterm run-up is probably the best you can do.
idk if schumer made the offer expecting it to be rejected but i am once again concerned that the lack of prioritizing defending the people from ICE signals intent to “moderate” on the american gestapo if dems ever get power again.

Schumer is making an offer he knows won't be accepted.
You'll see people talking about recissions. Recissions are when Trump just keeps funding that's been allotted by Congress. If this "deal" doesn't prevent recissions, it's worth NOTHING.

Schumer is a chump, so I don't have high hopes here.
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

Only 32 more stays away from tying DiMaggio's 1941 mark.
On March 6, #SCOTUS denied a Trump emergency application in the Dellinger case. That was the last time that happened; today's ruling is the 24th (consecutive) grant since then.

I survey this broader pattern (and its alarming implications) in a new draft paper here:

Wait, I Stayed Up for This? You know, my kids don't care about sports. There was a part of me that dreamt of the family rooting for the Red Sox or whomever together, but they largely seemed to find things like anime and video games and art more interesting. Sports has become where their dad has his own private refuge and connection to - I guess, home.

Solidarity!! Last week, Indiana University fired the director of student media & halted print on the Indiana Daily Student newspaper. Yesterday, Purdue’s student paper printed the banned edition & drove two hours to deliver it. Incredible www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/news/l...

Have the Cubs announced what they plan to do about their roster if they come back all the way and beat Milwaukee? Because both NLCS Game2 and Charlie Kirk's birthday are October 14 and that's obviously gonna create some problems for them.

Unironically they should buy up the domains for about 60 defunct local newspapers in swing states. Hire two reporters to write almost exclusively about highschool sports and new restaurants opening with every 10th article about how the local GOP is screwing over people.
