*Is* there arguing about whether this is an obvious attack by the far right on the BBC? Outside of the far right's own public statements, that is? The range of opinion I'm seeing goes from "this is an attack and it's really bad" to "this is an attack and it's really bad but ALSO fucking hilarious".

Seems clear everyone thought whoever was in power would have to raise taxes, including the press and the Tories, and the only people who didn’t think this would be necessary were the government, who appear to have convinced themselves the economy would boom out of sheer joy at being governed by them

That feels right: as far as I can tell, the average Labour member and a lot of their councillors are basically well meaning dorks who want people to have it a bit easier, and they didn’t sign up to be screamed at like they’re in Full Metal Jacket by the worst, most repellent people in Britain.
