Trump's policies are inflicting so much harm even his allies can see it. Yet he's mostly doing exactly what he promised to. If they revolt over policy, they'll reveal they were fools to back him in the first place. They need a *moral* reason to abandon him. The Epstein files provide just that.

I've got to say I don't think the president has quite calculated the rally around the flag affect correctly of a war that no one wants and no one thinks is a good idea that will 100% cost American lives.

100% And the Epstein scandal at its heart is about elite impunity and rich people literally screwing ordinary Americans with no consequences. There is a direct through line between this and oligarchs and elites stripping gov't for parts, making life unaffordable, cutting health care, etc.
Hey here’s an idea! We can talk about Epstein AND affordability! There are a bunch of advisors who lived in a pre internet era who think you can land only one message at a time
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

DHS was founded in 2002, it is not a pillar of "historical" American governmental departments. We just made it up one day...

It was unpopular even at the time of its founding with a significant number of Americans.

We can unmake it.
This is real. A government agency calling Americans performing their democratic right of protest “imbecilic morons.” This Trump regime is a poison and never should have gotten power. A total disgrace.

On a related note, last week I saw a casual reference to "the Hastert rule" in a NYT piece on the House GOP caucus, and the fact that it's even possible to utter that man's name in public reflects a similar reluctance among Dems to play raw-knuckle politics when it's to their advantage to do so.
made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
