And if you're arrested, do you think ICE is going to give a shit about what happens to your kid? We just saw them leave kids behind, alone, in the Minnesota winter.

And this is a pattern:

This evening, a resident was kidnapped by agents with face coverings. They disguised themselves in masks and as Uber drivers. They even left kids abandoned inside a car in the freezing cold. 1/

My hot take on the accommodations thing is we shouldn’t make instructors (many of whom are contingent and receive negative institutional support) figure this out on their own. The disability office should be staffed with people trained in ND service provision, and staffed ROBUSTLY.
If elite schools are finding the individualistic model of disability accommodation too arduous, then:

A. Reduce the bureaucratic burden on students seeking support

B. Train faculty on inclusive pedagogies and meet students’ needs on a group level

Let’s not pretend this is an unsolvable problem.

I have suffered a lot of very real psychological damage (I'm fine, nobody worry) being a healthcare provider during the worst time imaginable, but a few years into accidental burnout recovery (I got PPD and quit my job), one thing I am grateful for is I'm now immune to writing-rejection-angst.

Crossing the streams slightly to let people here know that @kristincollier.bsky.social's book, WHAT DEBT DEMANDS, is out! I have yelled about student debt pretty frequently, because it's the major factor I see separating my (millennial) peers into haves and have-nots. Link to MPR:
New book explores student loan system through author's story of fraudulent debt
In Collier’s new book, “What Debt Demands,” she explores the student loan system and the ways that debt shapes our lives.

Day after Thanksgiving means my dad and I are transforming the borb into new forms, not because we hate turkey or anything but we need something to do while pointedly not going outside for fear of being hit by a shopping cart

this thread is 100% accurate and also why I am full steam ahead on Canadian immigration for the spouse right now
A cool thing about the Dems being absolutely useless institution-fuckers is that if they did gain control again, they'll look at the mutilated, broken remnants of the FDA and NSF and such as sacred and reject out of hand any suggestion they need to be changed.

People always ask me, “how do I know my manuscript is done?”

There’s only one way, my friends.

If your file name looks something like this:

Manuscript - Final Draft 3.7 FINAL FINAL - FINAL (5).docx

Then, and only then, is it time.

@andrea.bsky.social it occurs to me that you should read this book!!
My daughter just turned 15, the same age as the MC in my debut YA SF that came out 15 years ago. (Yes, I had a debut novel and firstborn in the same month.)

I’m re-releasing a new edition of that novel now. 15 years later. The ebook’s out November 15. (Print coming soon.)
