why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections?

in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

It's been a half hour since the AP called it for Mamdani and already I see some people wringing their hands about how the cards are stacked against him, and to them I say, my friends, learn to enjoy a fucking moment, they didn't come around near enough, the man of the hour is partying, take the hint

A really great piece by my favorite tech journalist:
Protests, mass meetups, conferences—a youth-led movement is reclaiming the Luddite mantle, rejecting a future dominated by Silicon Valley companies, toxic apps, and generative AI.

This fall, a "Luddite renaissance" is in full swing.

I've had a really good cooking run of just excellent stuff this summer, about time I hit a real dud of a dish. That'll teach me to ever follow recipes! 😆 (But there's a good idea to be had in the confit garlic/tomato with lemon and calabrian chili gnocchi idea, once reconstructed, better.)

The anti-Zohran SuperPACs are back. So the SuperPAC killer is back too.

As MAGA billionaires pledge "hundreds of millions" to sabotage the Mamdani mandate, DREAM enters its next form:

Don’t Re-elect Eric or Andrew for Mayor.

Imagine if the Democratic Party actually helped Zohran instead of trying to kneecap him at every step. A better party is immediately possible if they stop shoving money into the anti-trans combination Racism Dial/Money Toilet and instead get behind candidates people actually want.

A story that got less attention was the incredibly cynical primary of my amazing Councilwoman—the first Muslim woman ever elected to the NYC Council—by a billionaire, corporate-backed candidate also lobbing gross accusations of antisemitism. Anyway, the challenger got trounced. Hell yea.
Thank you, Brooklyn! Getting to represent the neighborhoods that raised me is the greatest privilege of my life.
