Today we lost a giant. Rev. Jesse Jackson proved that a national political movement could be built from bold progressive ideals and an unshakable vision of radical love and justice. May he rest in power.

yes, and also—what if we just *didn’t* have an unelected council of elders with veto power over everything in the country?
once again pointing out that Trump vs. US is a treasonous decision--the Supreme Court equivalent of January 6--and the justices who voted for it have forfeited any claim to legitimacy (or indeed due process) whatsoever
One thing that's important to realize now is that, even in a scenario where Dems sweep to a crushing trifecta in 2028, Republicans will use their control of the courts to attempt to continue, as much as they can, to run executive agencies in exile, with DHS/ICE under Biden as the model

it's a funny thing whenever you hear about 'you aren't big enough a group/you aren't reliable enough voters to care about' because hoo doggy the way the party treats some of their biggest groups and most reliable voters

one thing about jesse jackson i always keep in mind is the sister souljah moment was using her as a proxy to take a shot at him, as the dems giving a big sign they wouldn't be bound to listening to minorities or 'special interest groups'

and that coalition has been in charge of the party since

30 Years Later, It Looks Like Jesse Jackson Won the Economic Argument
The civil rights icon’s progressive ideas were sidelined during the centrist Clinton years, but they’re ascendant in the Democratic Party today.

One of the more hopeful signs in UK politics is that Reform consistently struggles to poll above the mid-to-high 20s - despite a deteriorating economy, the simultaneous implosion of both the traditional parties and a pet TV station.

Reform is not some unstoppable force. It's eminently beatable.
Reform's polling is ~the lowest its been since last year's local elections

Today we celebrate the legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson, whose 1988 presidential campaign was endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America.

Jackson was a powerful force in American politics and one of the most vocal critics of the Democrats and Republicans' neoliberal austerity agenda.

This always comes as a shock to people, when we polled or focus grouped even the most conservative voters Progressive always tested so much better than Democrat. Even if we laid out policy positions. People want someone who is going to fight for them.
And this was interestingly unanimous— and not being that well reflected yet in the offerings from actual Dem politicians. Word to the wise
