As more & more women of my generation highlight how consistent & pervasive the sexualization of young girls was throughout the time that all of this shit from the Epstein files was going down, & as an AuDHD parent myself, I begin to understand my dad’s intense anxiety, paranoia & overprotection.

El perreo or "twerking" is at the heart of modern Puerto Rican dance culture. It's pretty much what Reggaeton was made for, dancing. Dancing is so core to Puerto Rican culture. Get-togethers always have dancing, from kids to abuelitas dancing to salsa, merengue, and reggaeton.

Until last year I assumed Spanish was an official language in the USA like French is here in Canada & was pretty shocked to find out I was wrong.
I’m not sure how it’s possible not to speak a word of Spanish in America in 2026 but it sounds like a lot of you have work to do ✨

I say this regularly. People use performative as a substitute for 'inauthentic' and we could all just say the words we mean to say. Erving Goffman helps us to understand that we perform all of the time in real life. Life itself is often a performance of self.
People have worn out "performative." We often perform things that are real, you know. Posting is a kind of performance of one's politics. Performative doesn't actually mean "fake" or "empty," it just gets deployed that way. We actually need performance. Case in point: last night's performance.
