New paper interesting (minority labels over-represented in both positive & negative news)

But I give special hats off to this cute, but very meaningful, intergroup image ❤️

Each alien had two majority attributes, & one minority.

My wife has been HIV+ for 34 years. She’s alive today b/c work of activists who destigmatized the virus, pushed medical science to adapt & find ways to treat it, & advocated for gov health programs that helped fund her care. The current U.S. regime may want to go back in time, but we won’t let them.

Me: classes are done, I have three weeks before I leave for an Xmas vacation, time to do ALL the things!!!

My sinuses (after having a sick toddler coughing in my face all last week): how about sickness and pain instead?

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.

If descriptive research is supposed to be one cure for the replication crisis, why do reviewers and editors keep downgrading descriptive research for not advancing theory? I explore this (in the context of sex and singlehood) in my latest Substack post. unromanticprof.substack.com/p/on-the-val...

It's World AIDS Day!
I feel incredibly privileged to be able to do the work I do and make a small contribution to the lives of people from some of the communities most impacted by HIV.
I've learned so much from being part of this work!

Excellent morning plenary from Dr. Lance McCready at CBRC Summit!
We're talking about the importance of putting in the resources to better develop third spaces that support Black sexual minority men in a tailored and culturally grounded way.

I'm doing a terrible job of posting coverage from Summit in Montreal - but I promise it's amazing and we're having a great time and learning so much! 🌈💕

I've reached the point in the semester where I can't even get excited about getting big scary things checked off my to do list, because their absence just allows me to remember all the other tasks I back burner-ed.

Sometimes, when I'm walking, I use the Google assistant function in my phone and verbally tell it to set a reminder for me to do something important.

Usually this works great.

Sometimes, when the reminder comes up days later, I can't decipher what Google wrote down for me:

I was just talking about this with my measurement class last week - just that simple face validity check to see if it seems like this scale actually seems like it measures what it says it does.
During my MA, I did a bad solitude study. It was correlational, nothing fancy. Trying to publish it anywhere would prolly help my CV. The problem was a well-being measure; I didn’t think it measures anything meaningful; my gut says: “dad wouldn’t be able to respond to the items”. So I scrapped it.

Well, it took less than 24 hours after I posted for my "to do" list to double in length and for me to feel almost completely overwhelmed again.
Yay.
Now that I've submitted my latest grant application I suddenly feel like I have SO MUCH free time!!

Going to savour this moment before I remember all the things I back burner-ed while I wrote that grant 😬
