The ending of game 7 feels like a good time to ask for the goverment to increase investment in public mental health care in Canada.

According to my Garmin, I have hit 31 active minutes since 8pm. I have been either sitting on a couch or pacing. Last time I did that, I was running a 101 fever from covid.
I’m enjoying the games and the drama, but I honestly believe if I was a real fan of either of these teams I’d be dead from a coronary.

I am really glad Canada has free Healthcare. Many of us may need it after that inning.
My husband is mocking me because my heart rate hit 110 watching the Jays play game 7.

Last week, the Ont govt announced that psychologists will be getting prescription rights.
This next week, our psych college announced that in response to govt pressure, the new standard to be a
psychologist will be 1/3 of the training we currently require.
This needs to be public.

Unpopular take: In my lab, I have students from different backgrounds. We have built a community around safety and mutual respect. If any of my students are not safe entering a country or state, I will not attend a conference there. Full stop. I encourage you all to think about doing the same.

This is an excellent analysis of what has been happening to post-secondary education in Ontario. It succinctly describes how the tuition cut and freeze by Ford directly lead to the explosion of international students, and how under funded ON universities are.

So this is a great example. This post barely made to a couple of accounts.
What am I doing wrong on here? Can someone help explain the Bluesky algorithm to me so I know how to get advice out to the right people?
It sucks when you want to help students, but your voice gets lost.

I used to post advice for students about applying to grad school on the bird app. Those posts were popular, and I heard from students that they were helpful in preparing applications. But I dont get nearly the same views on this app or instagram. Where are students going now for this type of advice?

Reading the news and comments to stories, I feel like people need to learn the difference between "socialist", "communist", "fascist" and "dictatorships".
Here is a simplified version of how to understand it.

I hate seeing what is happening in the US with research grant funds.
Canada needs to pay attention and not let that happen up here. If anything, this is the time to be investing in research to fill the massive hole these grant cancellations will cause.

To my computer engineering colleagues, why are we so focused on teaching AI to reproduce art and music and not focused on teaching it to effectively clean our homes?
You all have AI mimicking songs but my roomba can't figure out how to clean a whole room without getting stuck under the bed.
