My bitchiest vice as a Godzilla fan is that if you don’t have at least one 60s or 70s Showa in your top five I lowkey judge you.
The whirring UFOs, near-future kitsch, and Fukuda’s cocktail sunset islands are as integral to this stuff for me as any notion of Godzilla as an antagonistic horror.

The perception of these movies really refuses to acknowledge Batman Returns (1992) is just as much the Adam West show as anything Schumacher did. Camp as absurdist black comedy in expressionist horror drag. Tasteless, perverse, truly fucking excellent. Couldn’t give less of a fuck about the comics.
