Brought it up in my latest monthly review, really shoulda mentioned there is nothing special about liking an exceedingly popular and universally praised game
On another note, comments on New Vegas being a 'trans game' have always failed to sit right with me. To describe media (or indeed any experience) as core to identity, even as a joke, is to create further division and exclusion within a group. Like saying every trans woman has a skirt go spinny phase or every trans man chooses a name like Derek, to be prescriptive about gender, even as a joke, is to play into the same bigotted politics that inform trans repression. Every TikTok that hits my feed wherein someone says they will give their trans daughter a copy of FL Studio is deeply unsettling, even if it's under the guise of purported allyship. It feels ridiculous to say that queer liberation is, in some way, contingent on rejecting the notion of a videogame as being 'for the trans gamers' but it is something I feel very strongly about.

When we saw that the latest hardcore title starred Microsoft's Bob, we knew enough was enough. 3. Scissors and Stones may break our bones but words will never hurt us. 2. This Bill of Rights/First Amendment thing is largely overrated. 1. Two words: Samurai Pervert. For the past two years, the rain of reader mail con- cerning "adult" software ads and other X-rated content in the pages of NewMedia has never stopped, or even threatened to let up. It is a stormy issue. Women write-some of the most thoughtful letters I've ever received-asking us to consider a stricter ad policy and trying to put the issue of sexism in focus. Men write on the subject, too, and send some of the angriest correspondence I have ever received- - venom-filled letters, which always end on an "T'll-show-you" note, as the reader cancels his subscription. And, of course, whenever we publish one of these complaints, the civil libertarians write in, asking us to never bend a single word or image to please these other, nar-row-minded readers. Then there are the most persuasive letters of all, those that come from teachers who say they can't use the magazine in their classes because of the images in the ads.
