Q: How can you tell a Linux user?
A: Talk about anything that doesn't immediately involve them and wait twenty seconds.
It just clicked in my head that if the RAM shortage continues as it is, it's going to be literally impossible for most people to upgrade from Windows 10 systems to ones that run Windows 11.

So Microsoft is going to be pushed to add another year of Windows 10 support or face public crucifixion.

What conservatives mean when they say they are "under attack for their views" is that they are being accurately understood as the sort of people who hold the sort of views conservatives hold, and that makes them afraid they will be treated the way conservatives treat those whose views they scorn.
The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

Was never a problem for Jeremy Clarkson. Was never a problem for Andrew Neil. Was never a problem for Alan Sugar

The current GOP elite only pays lip service to the ideals of Christianity because they don't believe and don't understand how anyone could believe. It's just a grift for them.

So they have no concept of how angry real lifelong churchgoers are with this bullshit.

It's very apparent that "board games" can mean very different things to different people when one game feels the need to warn you that it can take up to 30 minutes to play, while another prides itself on being "quick playing" on the basis that a minimal two-player game should only take 2 to 3 hours.

The whole "the Old Magic sucks because material conditions have advanced" thing, but applied to cinematic martial arts. No, yeah, the legends are true, that move USED TO explode a man's entire skeleton, but you need to understand that people had more fragile bones back then. Poor nutrition, you see.

A video gaming having a mandatory full install which can be expressed in terabytes without needing to go more than one place past the decimal is of course unconscionable, but when it's offered as an optional thing I'll admit that I am not immune to the siren call of uncompressed audio.

I wish they'd noted that he specifically required security guarantees from the US and Europe before elections could proceed. So this is a bluff to please Trump, since the US is absolutely not going to send troops to safeguard Ukrainian elections, and any elections during an active war are invalid.
⚡️ BREAKING: Zelenskyy says he has ordered Ukrainian lawmakers to prepare the legal groundwork for elections, stressing he will not allow political speculation against the country.

Importantly, this wouldn't have passed without Dem support. There was enough of a split within Republican ranks that if Dems had voted against the bill it would've been doa. Giving Trump a blank check to warmonger *and* passing an anti-trans measure was a choice.
115 Democrats just voted to codify the first federal trans segregation law.

At the end, the speaker pro tem absurdly chided him for "engaging in personalities toward the president."

Having polluted air is a policy choice that is made at the municipal level. And likewise having clean air is a policy choice.
“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.

To reiterate, I'm 100% glad I got my COVID and flu vaccines.

But fucking hell I have been knocked down for the better part of two days. Sore and I simply couldn't stop sleeping.

I dunno why I have such a bad reaction to vaccines. Fuckers stole my only days off this week ...

These ridiculous mega-projects like "datacenters in space" (doomed by thermodynamics) make a LOT more sense when you realize they're massive Ponzi schemes designed to transfer wealth from pension funds to VC's through "fee stacking."

It's the old Assets Under Management con. It should be illegal.

It means going to alternatives that might not be quite as good or convenient.
