Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century.

He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. He’s referenced 38,000 times.

Another day of tonsillectomy recovery, another 2am dose of pain medication. 😴

Really hope this becomes unnecessary soon. As predicted, day five was quite rough and seemed like a regression. Poor kiddo needed the heavy duty pain meds to stay hydrated and at least eat some food. Sigh.

To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.

kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them

If you're a business owner who fires someone you have assigned to an overseas job and you don't buy them a plane ticket home you should actually go to prison
Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

I long for ONE YEAR without summer camp registration woes.

Also my bank account is crying. Why are summer programs so expensive, and why do they all need to be paid in full when it’s still winter??
February 7, 2026 at 3:14 PM
Well, the camp registration spit out error messages every time I tried to register under the existing camper profiles but it allowed me to register making new, duplicate profiles, so. I’m sure this will cause some type of problem but there are spots reserved and paid for under my kids’ names.

A few days of disrupted sleep from giving kiddo 2am doses of medication and my brain is Swiss cheese. Mushy Swiss cheese.

Not looking forward to waking up for morning camp sign ups. Having to plan out our ENTIRE SUMMER by the first week of February is just… not the vibe.

I had heard it was bad but OH MY is the live action Snow White bad.

On the upside, tiny patient is eating (soft) food and drinking fluids without a fight. I am so relieved.

Tiny patient just devoured half a batch of boxed mac and cheese (with added shredded cheese) and is now sinking into a glorious carb coma.

So relieved to see kiddo ingesting actual calories!

Hey, parents, drs, teachers, anyone who’s spending time with kids, a general PSA: a kid who is sitting out activities they love is not doing that for no reason, and if they explicitly tell you that the reason is pain, you can just believe them. It doesn’t cost you anything to take them seriously.

The Internet warned me of the… stench… associated with recovery from adenoid and tonsil removal but nothing prepared me for THE STENCH. Dear lord. I know the doctor said it is normal but HOW IS THIS NORMAL??

I feel like my child is full on wandering around with green smelly vapors like in The Sims.

My child ate an entire tube of gogurt and the hallelujah chorus is playing in my head.

Tiny patient update: steroids brought down some of the inflammation, and I was able to spoon feed strawberry applesauce. Progress!

Also I slept for 8 straight hours according to my CPAP - after days of little sleep - and I feel like my brain can complete a thought again.

Hear me out - what if hope is a cassowary: fierce and deadly, a descendant of dinosaurs? Racing 30mph through the rainforest with 4-inch blades on their feet.
‘HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS,’ EMILY DICKINSON
famously wrote, and that often leads to pictures of doves sitting quietly and looking sweet, but what if hope is an albatross that can soar for years without stopping, or an osprey that can haul a thrashing salmon out of rough waters?

I am so tired and miserable, watching my poor kiddo be miserable after surgery. The medication combination the doctor and nurses told us to use is not controlling the pain very well.
February 4, 2026 at 8:14 PM
Today I am grateful for 24-hour pharmacies and Zofran. Tiny patient was FINALLY able to eat a little ice cream and perked up a bit.
February 4, 2026 at 4:12 AM
Except the insurance is refusing to cover liquid prescription pain medication for a 7yo. So. That’s fun. No idea how we’re going to keep the pain controlled over the next few days!
February 3, 2026 at 7:30 PM
Younger kiddo’s surgery went well and we’re back home now. Here’s to hoping we get through the next several days with our sanity intact!

every UBI experiment the US has ever conducted has been an enormous success and has increased both productivity AND employment rates. there is no reason not to do it besides a desire to punish poor people for being poor
A UBI would create a revolution for the ordinary worker because it would give them power to not put up places that abuse them or intimidate them. Its time for an UBI , there is no time to waste in my opinion. Sick of politicians unwilling to move towards new ways of doing things .
