You should read this article by Sascha Cohen for @gqmagazine.bsky.social not just because I’m quoted in it, but because it’s a great piece about the anti-porn backlash we’re currently in, and the perilous road ahead for the concept of free speech in America www.gq.com/story/suprem...
The Supreme Court Case That Could End Porn as We Know It
An anti-porn backlash is in full swing. The Supreme Court might supercharge it.

"The migration away from legitimate sites is already impacting performers. Some who saw their income plummet after age-verification laws took effect have turned to in-person sex work, which poses greater risks than porn because it remains criminalized almost everywhere in the US."

When people like me say chatGPT is coming for our jobs, this is what we mean. I used to write almost exclusively book lists for a living. And guess what? I always wrote about actual, real books.
This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

Well, without an ankle monitor, what is to stop her from co-authoring another op-ed?
NEW: Rümeysa Öztürk's attorney Mahsa Khanbabai confirms ICE improperly tried to make her wear an ankle monitor:

"Despite an 11th hour attempt to delay her freedom by trying to force her to wear an ankle monitor, Rümeysa is now free and is excited to return home, free of monitoring or restriction."
Here's Judge Sessions's written order for Rümeysa Öztürk's release.

We haven't yet seen confirmation that she's been released—I'll certainly update you as soon as it appears! storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Okay it’s true that any attack on porn is an attack on LGBTQ+ people and sex ed but also porn is good and should not be attacked.

This author thinks porn never involves “women’s power or women’s pleasure.” She is leaving out a lot of popular genres.

As @reproutopia.bsky.social noted recently during her keynote at Duke’s Feminist Theory Workshop, there were many great feminists writing and thinking at the same time as Dworkin. Why not give them a “return” instead?

Is it twisted that her first name means “manhood”? Andrea Dworkin, the legendary feminist, said she believed in men’s “humanity, against all the evidence.” And I believe her.

It's up to a handful of House members now to stop it.

Dems showing their public humiliation kink once again. Oh, you color-coordinated and held cardboard signs on popsicle sticks? Should we throw a party and invite some pre schoolers?
The most powerful thing Democrats could've done was just not show up. It was so easy and yet "Democratic Leadership" i.e. Jeffries and gang told everyone to come in and give Fox News free b-roll of Democrats crying.

Prior to Blockbuster eating the market before becoming Netflix chum itself, video stores were seen as THE small business opportunity and they flourished. My small town had at least 8 at any given time.

They always smelled like those thick plastic cases and were usually festooned in posters.
Friday nights used to be Go to the Video Store Night and there was a whole strategy and timing to it and our entire society has broken down since we replaced it with Try to Figure Out What to Stream by Yourself While Also Scrolling on Your Phone y/n?
