I think about this so often as I live very near Arundel Castle. I’ve always assumed it was stolen to order, and I’m perpetually curious as to who would have had the means to do that 🤔
Today in 1587 Mary Queen of Scots was executed. Her cousin Elizabeth I reluctantly signed her death warrant & it was done before she changed her mind.
Mary's rosary was in Arundel Castle, sent to England's leading Catholic, the Duke of Norfolk.

It was stolen just after I saw it 😬
