These were the Top Ten Fiction books I read this year, with Caledonian Road by Andrew O’Hagan my book of the year. I’d strongly recommend the audiobook of that one, as well as the audiobooks of Glorious Exploits, James, and Charles Ignatius Sancho

I read 100 books in 2024 so here’s a quick thread of my Top Ten fiction and non-fiction choices 📚

On a weekly basis in my job I find myself running through “William, William, Henry, Stephen, Henry, Richard, John…” in my head. That song alone is worth the license fee for what it’s taught us. And I can’t walk past a painting of this guy without singing his whole song

I still have this lovely picture of him at Runnymede on my phone. I was so pleased to have reconnected with him 20 years after he taught me and to be ‘doing’ something with what I learnt from him

I mean, I know the hype is ridiculous and the tie-in merch is omnipresent, but this was absolutely sensational. Film of the year 🩷💚 #Wicked
