New fav artefact is either this silk viking bonnet from York, or Alfred's cake fungus from Star Carr used to curate an ember 11,000 yrs ago - something I tried with Explorer Scouts a few weeks ago (it works amazingly well!). #YorkshireMuseum spoiling us with exhibitions at the moment, do go visit!

We're delighted to be working with MJC-Associates to record the graffiti & inscriptions at Stoneacre. The house is a medieval timber-framed building, with many later alterations to the fabric, including those undertaken by Aymer Vallance, who presented the house to the National Trust in 1928.

Love this. I actually think there is a bit too much naff augmented reality going on in archaeology at the moment that falls short, but points Colleen makes about world building not needing to be digital, & the importance of the way we present arch info to facilitate world building really resonated

Love this. I actually think there is a bit too much naff augmented reality going on in archaeology at the moment that falls short, but points Colleen makes about world building not needing to be digital, & the importance of the way we present arch info to facilitate world building really resonated

A fab day out helping @rspbscotland.bsky.social @bumblebeetrust.bsky.social #Balmoral rangers survey for rare invertebrates today. Our 10 yr old was chuffed to find the first broken-belted bumblebee recorded on the estate, sadly no small scabious mining bees but several dark bordered beauty moths.
