I had a lovely (if rather damp) day out with the one and only @stonelands.bsky.social on Sunday, during which she introduced me to Coldrum Long Barrow in Kent. Its name is possibly derived from the old Cornish word 'Galdrum' which means 'place of enchantments'. #TombTuesday

An important piece that looks not just at the Shirehall, Shrewsbury but at the wider problem of values of heritage and it's futute reuse. Well worth 5 minutes of your time
Why is it so hard to reuse buildings in Britain?
Shropshire Council’s push to demolish its former HQ, the late-1960s Shirehall in Shrewsbury, encapsulates everything wrong with how we treat our existing buildings, argues Leanne Tritton

We owe a duty to the stories to not only tell them, but to think of them and upon them. To remember where they came from and understand where they are going.

For #StandingStoneSunday on St Bride's/Brigid's day, here is the wonderfully twisted (and named) Poit Na H-i stone on Mull, emerging from the ground like a giant granite claw. Happy Imbolc all, spring starts here though it may not yet look like it!

Ever since his childhood visits to Kensington Gardens, Paul Nash had been drawn to trees - they held a spiritual quality for him. The tranquillity in this work from 1911, is heightened by the inclusion of birds which he saw as an emblem of freedom.

It is not merely a volume of water travelling on a set course from one point to another. It has become a living thing, with its own defined and complex character, its own idiosyncrasies and …its own soul.

It would have been listed and protected but for the block put in by the last administration who got a Certificate of Immunity which is due to expire Sept 2026
