I worked on a trackway near Ennis as part of a road scheme, it was early Feb and I have never been so cold, cracking ice from the peat before sponging out and digging with wooden trowels and lolly pops. Amazing archaeology but so very cold

The realities of the Edwardian colonial miasma that results in industrial war that broke a generation and that we should remember for its horror, grief and reality. Remembrance is more than just flag waving and as a society we should all do this, wearing poppies or not
