In the centre of a gravely courtyard is a large old olive tree which has been cloud pruned. Beyond low clipped box hedges a seating area and a green lawn in the distance a huge eucalyptus tree and a silver birch.

Today's office view was not so good. After the storm and heavy snow we had a huge garden casualty to clear away as well as numerous tree boughs damaged and broken.

No sun, no fog, only the tiniest hint of frost, but still nice to get out onto the common first thing and enjoy the spectacular trees.

A couple of snow sketches from around our farm. I’m entering 2026 feeling a little more confident with my painting technique. It’s down to lessons with some great watercolour teachers and an insane amount of practice I pushed myself to do last year as a new year resolution.

Office view today 😳!

Yes it was -2 degrees when we started but we need to get winter hedge work and roses done. So warm clothes and a hat and plenty of tea and biscuits kept us going.

Sundial in metal on a stone pedestal. The dial had a dusting of snow and the ground around the pedestal id covered in snow. A formal garden with a row of pear trees. Beyond the trees is a wide border with a box hedge at the front and a yew hedge at the back. There is an electric shredder front left in black and teal and to the right is a very overgrown feature bed containing roses and box. The ground is snowy and the foliage is also snowy. Vibrant red crabapples clinging to the tree. Beyond is a yew hedge the ground below is snowy and there are some fallen crab apples in the snow.
