Curious that this video is being pushed to me on multiple platforms. Anyway, this take is trash! And the subject of tomorrow's Sandy and @nolore.bsky.social episode!
sums it up. headlines on crowd sizes and the feeling that maybe something happens (somewhere else) aren’t action, and getting a bunch of people to show up to a party for nothing isn’t organizing.

find your people and build something real.

saw this clip of the NYC mayor debate and i had tears in my eyes, perhaps the most insane section of any debate ever

Liberals and Democrats will call for "funding local police" as a way to solve the problem of DHS/ ICE and no one will think about the fact that this is how we got here.

Yes, yes, yes!
The conversation between Klein and Coates showed me that a lot of people who screech about “infighting” on the left aren’t aware of the fact that marginalized people have been forced to learn how to regulate their emotions during conflict, and so, are better able to hear what’s actually being said.

No longer needed?? The problem has only gotten worse. 2024 was the deadliest year for police killings on record. Before that it was 2023. Before that, 2022....and onward.

Deeply frustrated by the popular narrative that there was deep change for Black people following 2020.
'The deployment of federal agents and National Guard troops has caused some Black parents to return to the days of “the talk” about policing that they had hoped was no longer needed to keep their children safe.'

Federal agents in DC have been starting dangerous car cases for small stuff like tinted windows. The chases violate DC police policy.

Out of 10 cases, six ended in a crash. One car had a minor in back.

High praise. Thank you!
@sandela.bsky.social

I was born and raised in a police family. As a law teacher, at the beginning I had a very biased view. Listening to your podcast and now this amazing book, makes us all realize the abolishinist argument as not only valid, but also the most logical.

Thank you so much!
I was raised to see police as "the good guys." But the witness of the wounded and the weight of history tells another story. As a minister, I’m called to challenge systems that oppress. *Defund* dares us to imagine justice beyond policing. @sandela.bsky.social @pantheonbooks.bsky.social #defund

It is important to note that the police did NOTHING to prevent or stop the mass shooting in Manhattan. We need other strategies than sending SWAT teams after everyone (including the shooter) is already dead.

I used to be a producer on one of Canada’s flagship daily politics shows.

We choose the order of segments. The topics for panels. The guests.

When a topic leads those shows for days or weeks on end, it forces the government to act.

Use your power to end these horrors 💔
I wonder how different our world would be if Canadian media could muster the same outrage over the government’s inaction on the forced starvation in Gaza as we do for foreign interference and government debt levels…

Breaks my heart, truly. These are choices.

A horrifying statement published today by the Editorial Committee of the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency.
