Ok but this parody is stunningly accurate, both in its description of a mall and its emulation of McCarthy’s writing style.
"The mall had once been a bustling outpost of humanity. Now as the man led the boy over the threshold, he perceived how the crowds thinned and order gave way to the entropic pull of the wild."
Cormac McCarthy’s The Mall
If only there was not cause, thought the man, for the boy to accompany him here. To this place of commerce. But as the woman reminded him two hours...

American public opinion is largely generated by foreigners who make money by lying to Americans over unregulated social media. Out of respect to those entrepreneurial foreigners, we will continue to treat their commodified fictions as one side of a reasoned American debate.

These data generate the kind of graph that political scientists love: monotonically decreasing/increasing series across easily observable & politically salient categories.

District courts have low partisan divides on ruling against Trump, large ones at the circuit level, & near perfect at SCOTUS
District court judges are engaged in a bipartisan project of [forgive me] actually calling balls and strikes. Republican circuit judges are largely going full-tilt partisan.

Yep But, That is how the vaccine works just like Flu or RSV it keeps one from getting very sick. There is Nasal Vaccine for Covid and Flu that causes sterilizing immunity but Kennedy pulled the funds. Mucosal ( nose vaccine ) results in sterilizing immunity which means one can't catch it.

I've been waiting and praying for a sterilizing nasal vaccine for COVID ever since they first teased it back in the 2022 or something. It would be such a game-changer for my ability to resume a normal-for-me social life. I could play board games with randos again!

Interesting results in the world of nasal vaccine development. Wish we would devote more resources to sterilizing vaccines.

Also positive news on efficacy of XBB vaccine against severe covid!
There's plenty going on in the world of Covid. Here's an update that includes the JN.1 variant, US status, the booster, #LongCovid, new inhalation vaccine data, and my bout. In a new Ground Truths (it's free, always will be, so please consider subscribing)

Researchers in Spain have developed a new intranasal COVID-19 vaccine that eliminates the virus in mice.

One dose gave 60% protection, but two intranasal doses achieved 100% protection with no detectable virus in nasal or lung tissue, suggesting sterilizing immunity.

Had 4 years of outrage media coverage of Hunter Biden having a board seat but not quite as much energy directed to what is basically legalized bribery. Need your tariffs cut? Just hand Trump a <checks notes> $130,000 solid gold bar and a bespoke Rolex desk clock. Media shrugs.

This is so pants-on-head stupid. Even IF people are able to get and spend the money in their FSAs - which has an expiration date, and which can only be spent on certain “covered” expenses - they’ll still have to pay the insurance premiums they can’t control or afford.
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
