So many brave, people have created good by leading from behind!

Common in this country’s battles for civil rights—an individual acting on impulse gives ideas and energy to organized groups who do the grunt work to keep it going. Both Austen/Colvin and Parks were heroes in their own ways! (Colvin was born Austen but took name of family who raised her.)

Earlier, 15-yr old Claudette Austen refused to move, + was a plaintiff v bus discrim but got pregnant unmarried so they dropped case. Parks said, "If the white press got ahold of that information, they would have [had] a field day. They'd call her a bad girl, and her case wouldn't have a chance.”

Just to be clear: as Secretary for the local NAACP, Parks, a petite Black woman, drove by herself around Alabama and East Texas investigating rapes and lynchings and persuading victims/families to go to court + later volunteered to be the face of the Birmingham bus boycott. She wasn’t just tired.

(Sorry, Mr. Brown. I get riled up over that minimalist presentation of the extraordinary things she did, or make it sound like the lady got tired and so sat down.)

Let’s expand: Rosa Parks was a Black woman who, as an NAACP secretary, drove solo, around Alabama and East Texas investigating rapes and lynchings, doing her best to persuade the victims to testify. 70 years ago, in a planned action, she refused to give up her seat to a white man. True Courage.

One place to start might be to rewrite this piece using sixth grade language and summarize it the same way.

Yep But, That is how the vaccine works just like Flu or RSV it keeps one from getting very sick. There is Nasal Vaccine for Covid and Flu that causes sterilizing immunity but Kennedy pulled the funds. Mucosal ( nose vaccine ) results in sterilizing immunity which means one can't catch it.

I've been waiting and praying for a sterilizing nasal vaccine for COVID ever since they first teased it back in the 2022 or something. It would be such a game-changer for my ability to resume a normal-for-me social life. I could play board games with randos again!
