There is, in fact, no longer a road test for new drivers in the State of Mississippi.

Given the overall quality of driver licensure in the United States, I'm not even sure if this matters for safety.
Sorry to say but having a U.S. driver's license means absolute nothing insofar as driving safely in this country. the DL test is just more of a registration at the DMV than any actual competency filter.
What does having a US drivers license have to do with knowing how to safely operate a motor vehicle?

The resistance to proof-of-payment ticketing among commuters railroads is insane. Just making stuff up that’s doomed to fail, rather than accepting that they need to do it the way everybody in Europe does it.

With TrumpRx, you can now pay $200/month for medicine instead of $140/year.

I am frequently told that licensure and registration violations are "victimless" "paper" crimes, when these people are not paying the taxes everyone else has to pay and do not have insurance for the harm they do to others, and there's often a reason they cannot be licensed or should not be driving.

NEW VIDEO: North America’s Elevator’s Problem

Elevators are absolutely essential to modern cities..... and it turns out North America kind of sucks at them. We partnered with @sightline.org to look into the many issues plaguing our elevator industry, and what it might take to fix it.
The United States has the fewest elevators in the rich world, with Canada only a bit ahead. We teamed up with @uytaelee.bsky.social of About Here Videos to investigate why, exactly, North America sucks at elevators.

The only thing that can halt the ongoing MAGAfication of the judiciary is a Democratic senate win in November. If you’re not thinking about how to win in Texas, Alaska, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, and Florida you’re asking the wrong question.

If your hotel tells you "we upgraded your room" but they do not specify how (eg, "to a suite"), you have almost certainly not received a real upgrade.

This is excellent news for the future of transit in the US. LA is just too big to rely mostly on buses and light rail and needs to return to building subways. A NIMBY-pleasing highway-median monorail without a direct connection to a major trip generator (UCLA) would have been a huge mistake.

I pointed this out once in a room full of US airport and airline managers talking about the curb congestion issue, but I did so knowing that everyone would roll their eyes because the opinion stateside is still "no way".
Fees to drive to the airport curb are now commonplace in the UK.

US airports like JFK and LAX should seriously consider these, and the former should use the proceeds to make the JFK AirTrain free.
